For Victoria Mota, a career in horse racing was an obvious choice. Thoroughbreds have been an important part of her life for as long as she can remember: her grandfather is a trainer, her father was a jockey, and her mother used to be a trainer before turning TV-presenter at the Jockey Club racing channel.
Mota started riding races at the age of 17 in 2016 and was off to a flying start, winning the first race that she participated in. She went on to secure the champion apprentice title in the 2016/2017 season. Now, she has ridden more than 160 winners, including two on Group level.
This year, at the age of just 19, Mota got the opportunity to ride in the prestigious G1 Grande Prêmio Brasil, a race that her father once won as a jockey.
